Crash puts Joe Atkins in 10th at WMCCL Round 2

Raleigh sponsored cyclocross rider Joe Atkins finished 10th in round 2 of the West Midlands Cyclocross League on Sunday (15th September), racing his new Raleigh RX Race team bike for the first time.

Having got off to a good start in Shrewsbury a nasty crash put him out of podium contention, although he still managed to finish with a respectable placing.

Said Joe: “Not such a good race today! Got away from the start with 2 other riders and we had a good gap but I crashed hard 3rd lap and ended up 10th. The bikes felt brilliant and survived the crash unscratched but my side didn’t!”

On Friday, Joe received a great write-up in his local paper, the Coventry Telegraph, announcing his sponsorship deal with Raleigh and reporting on his result in the first round of the West Midlands series; 2nd place in the U23 category.
