Wearing the colours of Lichfield CC, Harry Yates was racing on the Raleigh RX Race in the Youth category at Hardwick Hall, Chesterfield this weekend. Set in a picturesque grounds of a National Trust property, the course terrain was flat and fast with multiple technical sections and narrow singletrack channels.
Harry started on the second row of the grid but powered through the field as the race progressed, hopping from group to group when overtaking spots appeared, eventually finishing in a highly commendable 3rd place. Harry was the first West Midlands rider home and the top placed rider in the Youth first year category.
Harry said “Really pleased with result as it was not my ideal course, it lacked climbs and technical sections, so it was always going to be a challenge against the older stronger riders. The RX bike handled very well through the corners with the RX precision really noticeable allowing smooth and fast entry and exits. Whilst it was an extremely bumpy course along the fast straights, the RX floated over them giving me a comfortable ride.”
